Race, Pool, Food & Fireworks

This year the Fourth of July was AWESOME!

We started the morning out by getting up at 5:00 AM and running the Sauvie Island Half Marathon. The race started at 7:00.. I thought we'd beat the heat but by the second half of the race it started getting really hot. Overall the race was really fun!
Sauvie Island is beautiful!!!
This is me with my sister-in-law Lindsi. I ran the race with her and our friend Rebecca Lacher. My goal for the race was to 'Keep up with Lindsi.' I did for the most part finishing about 40 seconds behind her. I fought a good fight! My finish time was 1:58.21- I finished under two hours.. YAY!

Logan and Baylor crawled out of bed early to get to the race. Baylor was CRANKY! I didn't get the family picture I wanted...
After I attempted a nap (it didn't happen) we headed over to the May's for the Pool Party. We enjoyed the company of the Dyer's and LOTS and LOTS of FOOD!
I love this little guy.
LaurieAnn, Rebecca, Me & Callie.
Logan catching up with his friend Scott.
Enjoying some of Lindsi's Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.
Holy Fireworks!
For the past few years we have all met at the May's neighbor's home to watch the fireworks. TONS of families get together and pitch in fireworks and desserts. After a perfect day it was so fun to get all settled with our camping chairs and a bowl of homemade ice cream to watch fireworks.
At first Baylor was scared of the fireworks, but then he got used to them and liked them! He even clapped a few times!!! He eventually fell asleep.. I don't know how.
The firework show was AMAZING!
We enjoyed every second of it.
I'm so glad we have the fourth of July to celebrate this country and our freedom!!

That sounds like a ton of fun. Good job! I might need to do that someday. Might. Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks, and Baylor. He's a cutie!

I think it is so amazing that you ran a half, and it was so fast! I'm totally impressed. Also, last night I couldn't sleep and I was looking at all the blogs/websites you link to, they were so great, I really liked the everyday entertaining. Thanks for the entertainment.

I am totally impressed Ashley. I think I'm getting little to ambitious but I'm going to run a half in may of next year. Gives me 8 months to get my booty back in pre-baby state. That's gonna take a lot of work considering what they have done to me. I'm even more motivated now that I saw your post...so thank you!!!

Sorry you guys waited for me to get a picture and I ditched. I am a loser. But at least I wasn't last! When are we doing it again?
