Four years ago I ripped a 'beginner marathon training plan' out of a Runner's World Magazine and tucked it away in the back of my journal. I'd see it there and sometimes laugh at myself for I thinking at one point that I was capable of doing it... But this year I decided I was and I did it! I didn't look into any other Marathons. The only one I've had a desire to run is Portland.
I love this city, I didn't want to do it anywhere else!
It was an incredible experience that I really can't put into words. I thought it would be torture, and the night before I was awake ALL night until 3:15 AM regretting that I ever signed up. However, to my surprise I enjoyed almost every minute of it. It was just so exciting being there with thousands of other people that shared the same goal as I did. The weather was nice and cool which is what I prefer. It rained for about 10 miles but I thought it was refreshing! There was so much support from people along the sides, just reading their signs kept me entertained.
This picture was taken about half a mile before the finish. My Mom said it looked like I was smiling as I ran past them. I probably was. Even though it was fun, I was so happy to almost be done!

| Before the race I gave my Mom my number so that she could track me online. Because of the chip on my shoe she was able to look me up and see where I was and how fast I was running. As I was running I loved knowing that my Mom was watching me. |

| My Dad is an amazing runner. A few years ago he trained so hard (much better then I ever did) and came really close to being able to run this, and then he got an injury. There are so many things that can hold you back from a run like this and I lucked out that I didn't hurt myself or get sick!! |

Thank you Mom, Dad and Logan for fighting the crowds and coming down to see me at the end!
I love you guys!!!!!!!!! |
When I got home, we pulled up to this! Two of my very good friends left me with flowers, a gift basket and these adorable decorations. I am so lucky to have such good friends.
Thanks you guys!!! I Will definitely be doing this again but probably not for awhile!!!
