We are so happy our baby girl is here! On December 29th we got up bright and early and left for the hospital at 6:30 AM. We checked in and got settled in our room right away. Logan and I were so tired we both dozed off in the room while we waited. My IV went in so good so that was awesome... we were off to a good start! At 10:00 AM we headed off to the O.R. Everything was going well until it came time to pull her out. Dr. Higgins announced when she opened up my uterus. The anesthesiologist started timing at this point. When it comes time to pull the baby out they always warn me that there will be a lot of pressure. It is a strange feeling! Well, they told me I was going to feel pressure... and I did... for FOUR MINUTES! With my other C-Sections the baby came out right away- but not this time. Dr. Higgins said her head was stuck on the side of my Uterus and she was 'very active' twisting and turning and they could not get her out! They were grunting and pulling.. and I could feel the pulling big time. My body was moving all over the place and it felt like someone was pulling out my insides! (No pain of course, just a strange pulling pressure) Everyone in the room started to seem panicked. Logan and I were just looking at each other in dis-belief. We couldn't believe this was happening. Extra NICU people came in and they warned me that when they did get her out they were going to have to immediately give her to the NICU. When they finally got her out (after four minutes) she looked lifeless. She did not cry... for awhile. We were so scared that she was not alive. My head was behind the curtain so I couldn't see anything. I just kept asking, 'Is she alive?' "Is she gonna be okay?" Her APGAR score was a 2 (very low!) but the NICU nurses brought her up to an 8 and she was fine! What a scary experience- especially considering she was a C-Section! We felt so much joy when we finally got to hold her in our arms. The first thing Logan said was that she looked like her brothers. A pretty girl version of course. :)
We are so in love with our Sadie May!
Amy Morgan came in and took pictures of Sadie's first bath, and the boys meeting her for the first time. This was about 2 hours after her birth.
